MORE to learn ...

Ben Charles, Sr. carved his paddle, in the ancient design of the West Coast Tribes, tried and true for thousands of years of water travel and transport. This design has been in constant use since long before Europeans, Asians, or others appeared on the shores of the North American continent.

Amazingly, a non-native man recently put legal action against us for showing paddle images on our websites, claiming that he owned the copyright for the paddle design. Although he doesn't appear to be over 55 or so he still claims that he created the original paddle design, and demanding that we remove all paddle images from all our websites. I hope he is prepared for an awakening when the Tribal attorneys serve him with notice of legal action. Remember... no one can copyright ancient designs that predated the automobile, the steam engine, electricity, etc.

The ancient paddle designs are used of course for paddles for canoe journeys, also for garment embellishment, jewelry and other artistic expression.
